Santa Fe’s newest option for clothing alterations for the whole family: Santa Fe Seamstress, at Design Center Santa Fe (one block east of the Railyard train station).
The seamstress, Arun Dugan, who many in town know from her years with the fine local tailors, Seams Unusual, now offers custom dress making, and of course alterations, in this new venue, just up-hill from down town.
From apprenticing in her teens, to being a teacher of sewing in her twenties, to being selected by a major Thai silk manufacturer to produce their sample apparel for trade shows throughout Asia, Arun brings a deep history of talent, skill and quality to her own shop here in the heart of Santa Fe.
Since her first month here, when she worked on Governor Richardson’s suits, her abilities have served Santa Fe’s sewing needs with the same careful, prompt attention that’s a hallmark of the rigorous discipline demanded in the Thai garment industry.
